With Athenry and Liam Mellowes drawing the main focus now falls on Mágh Cuilinn versus Athenry on June 22nd. The draw makes the game must-win for Mágh Cuilinn. A loss would definitely mean the relegation semi-finals but a win or a draw would only earn the right to secure their Senior status in a showdown against Liam Mellowes on the 13th/14th of July. A draw in all three matches would mean the group winner and qualifier for the Senior Shield would be decided in favour of the highest scorers over the three games.

The Junior team has had a tough start with a number of players progressing on to Senior this year and players unavailable in both matches, the team went down to heavy defeats in both games so far. In both games the situation was not that serious at halftime and the team competed well, but inexperience and a lack of scoring power saw them over-run in the second half. The Junior's will probably be out again on the 21st/22nd/23rd June.
