New Jerseys TEAGHLACH UILINN http://www.uilinn.com/ Launched today on a winning note after Moycullen (7-4) U16's defeated Liam Mellows (6-5) by the narrowest of margins in a thrilling match. Moycullen were slow to start as Mellows had 2 goals within the first 8 minutes before Paul Wynne took control of the full back line and shut up shop helped greatly by Cian Connell and Michael Bohan. Scores for Moycullen followed as Anraoi Whyte (2-1), Ryan Fox (1-0), Lairgnen Mc Dermott (1-0) and Ronan Higgins (0-2) put it up to Mellows who had equally good goals from Cathal Reilly (1-3) and Gary Donohue (2-0) to leave John Fox scribbling furiously to keep pace. The second half gave an equally fine display of hurling with goals from Ciaran Barber (1-0), Evan Hurney (1-0), a great point from Robbie Kenny and Thomas Payton the winning goal, but Mellows pushed Moycullen all the way with fine displays from Stephen Barrett and Cathal Foy to leave just 2 points at the final whistle. Best for Moycullen - everyone however John Lalor, Caleb Mc Guinness, Aodhan Claffey and Cian Connell shone throughout the match. An injury to Ronan Higgins will hopefully have healed by next weekend as County trials get under way in Clarenbridge.
