May Bank Holiday Update

Post date: May 6, 2014 7:42:13 PM

While the May weekend was a relatively quiet one with no adult games there was still plenty of action.

On Wed night after previous outings against Clarinbridge, Craughwell, Salthill/Knocknacara when the only reverse was in Clarinbridge, the U12s had a another successful result at home to Turloughmore. They travel to Athenry next Monday with a lot of confidence and will have a challenge game in Micheal Breathnachs tomorrow night as the mentors try to ensure game time for avery large panel

On Thursday night the U16 had huge victory over a visiting Kiltormer side. see match report

On Friday night U8-U10 Mini League season began with visit of Clarinbridge see report

While apart from those players attending the academies that were on Saturday, Saturday and Sunday were relatively quiet, Monday saw the U14s back in action and back to winning ways in the Championship with a 4-05 to 0-01 win on their trip to Carnmore, The win sees them finish joint top of the U14 B group phase which means a playoff will be required to decide the semi-final pairings

Earlier on Monday our U11s took part in the Festival of Hurling in Pearse Stadium with two Mágh Cuilinn selections participating.

Meanwhile, the Minors got ready for their Championship game away to Killimordaly on Wednesday night (May 7th) with a 13 a side Bank Holiday Monday game of U16/Minor combined. The Minor forwards seemed to have the upper hand on the Minor backs and hopefully the Minor forwards will be as successful against Killimordaly while the backs are bolstered by the presence of Ronan Higgins who has been quietly training with the Galway Minor Panel. The bus leaves An Fuarán at 5.45pm for a 7pm throw in Killimordaly (Attymon). Carnmore come to Baile Doite Wednesday week (14th) in the next round.

While other teams take part in the second round, our Intermediate team expect to be in friendly action over next weekend. Details as they come available.
