Lá na Geansaí

On Friday 19th November as part of the build up to the Intermediate County Final on Saturday 20th The four Moycullen primary schools hosted a jersey day with students contributing €2 for the pleasure of wearing a Mágh Cuilinn jersey. Some of the players visited the schools on the Friday, when they announced the results of the schools art competition, which received over 500 entries and presented the all important prizes.

See some of the days photos below. More can be seen on our Facebook page

From the monies raised from the Jersey Day and our GoFundMe page Cumann Iománaíochta Mhaigh Cuilinn will be making a contribution to local charity Cruinniu Máigh Cuilinn

Thank you to everyone who has supported.

And the prize for vintage credibility goes to this pupil of Scoil Tualach Chadhain

The oldest Cumann Iománaíocht Mháigh Cuilinn Treform jersey on view on Friday was this jersey from the 1990's, when Gus Treacy was a brilliant sponsor for many years. It was the first jersey where juvenile replicas were available but this one could also have had too many visits to the drier. Versions still turn up on a regular basis including one seen at a Cumann Peile game in the stadium and most notably in Sydney, Australia, when Alexis Perkins, late of this parish and its GAA clubs, wore it to the Wild Geese game between Galway and Kilkenny in 2019. Keeping up with the Jones or what!
