Two Big Games Either Side of Weekend

Our U13 team have qualified for the Shield final having put together an end of season run, which began with a win over over then group leaders, Kilconieron and continued with a win over Castlegar in the final Group game. Last Thursday, it looked like they might have blown their chances when they were hauled back to a draw from being six points up at the end of normal time. Extra time was not played so in the replay Mágh Cuilinn on Sunday morning in Kenny Park, Mágh Cuilinn reversed the result of the early season group game and won by 3-09 to 3-04 to qualify for a Shield final clash against Castlegar in Pearse Stadium at 6.15pm on Friday. The "Stadium" has been a happy hunting ground in finals for both U16 and U14 in recent years so let us hope it is the same on Friday night.

On Monday, Magh Cuilinn Minor B take on Portumna in a play-off for a quarter-final place. Mágh Cuilinn won a high scoring group game earlier in the season but it is probably a poor guide for the way things will pan out in Loughrea from 7.15pm onwards.

The game was deferred from Friday as both teams have players with the Galway U16 development squads over the weekend. Best of luck to Joseph Lydon and Dara Davoren in their matches this weekend.

Best of luck also to Cian Folan who is in action in the maroon and white for the Galway U14s.

We are proud of you lads!!
