Meitheal to improve changing rooms begins

On Sat last a group of over 20 volunteers started the first phase of an ambitious project to provide increased accommodation and improved facilities at our changing rooms in Baile Doite.

The project which relies heavily on voluntary labour has been building a fund over recent months to fund the works. The fund has raised €10,000 already and received €40,000 in loans from the hurling and football club. A further target of €100,000 is being pledged in the form €1,000, 10 year no interest loans from the members of the 5 GAA clubs and their supporters. The fund has achieved well over half the required pledges already as the need for better changing rooms is generally recognised. The promoters are confident the remainder can achieved with the goodwill that seems to be out there for the project.

The expertise of local tradesman was deployed to disconnect plumbing and operate equipment, while others just lent their manual labour to clearing up and cleaning out.Tús maith leath na h-oibre
