Moycullen Secure in Senior for 2012

At the recent Hurling Board Convention the delegates adopted the new championship format proposed by the Galway Hurling Review Committee. The motion was proposed by Kilbeacanty and our own delegate Michael Darcy spoke strongly in favour of the motion when he seconded it. An amendment tabled by Killimordaly was ruled out of order and this ruling had the same effect on several other possible amendments. While a number of speakers expressed reservations, most speakers including our Cathaoirleach, Kenneth Fox, spoke positively on the motion and it was eventually passed overwhelmingly.

The immediate impact for Moycullen is that as Intermediate champions we are to be given a season to find our feet at senior level and will not face the threat of relegation until 2013. The down side is that Moycullen enter the Championship two rounds later than the other teams. The actual format is the same as outlined in a previous post
