Under 6

In the warmer months and when underfoot condition are good, training takes place Friday evenings from 6.15 pm – 7.30 pmin the club grounds in Baile Doite. In the winter months, since 2014, sessions go indoor in the hall in Baile Doite on Fridays. This generally lasts 4/5 weeks in October/November and again in February/March. However, this has been completely disrupted for 2020/2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There were 40 members registered for this age group at the year end and children can join and register throughout the year. Helmets are a compulsory safety item as a hurley is an essential tool. Both are available through the club at lower than retail prices although supplies of helmets can be limited. Special indoor hurleys are provided for those sessions. At each session, they learn the basic (yet essential) skills of hurling under the watchful eye of Colm Griffin, Sinéad O'Connor and Tom King. The emphasis is always on fun and full participation at all times, with a combination of drills, skills and the much-awaited matches.

Members should be at least 5 years of age and school-going in order to qualify for registration.
