Clubs opt for U20 not U19

Although a recent meeting of the CIMC Executive preferred the U19 grade and the club made it recommendation to County on that basis, the majority of clubs appear to have plumped for the U20 grade. In Mágh Cuilinn the worry was the gap from the new U17 grade was too wide for many players and would lead to limited opportunities to play at a critical time. The statement from Hurling Committee Secretary was as follows;

"Following the Hurling Committee meeting held on January 20th we asked clubs for their submissions on the selection of an age grade

to replace the current U21 grade in light of the overall changes to age grades nationwide.

We would like to thank all the clubs who responded with their favoured option and the reasons supporting it.

60% of club responses favour the U20 grade and on that basis we will be recommending this grade to the CCC for 2 years at which point we will review."

It is good news for a few individuals who were set to miss out on another year of the grade formerly set at U21.
