Máigh Cuilinn 0-11 Abbeyknockmoy 4-10
Mágh Cuilinn U21's experienced defeat in their opening game in the Championship at Turloughmore. The scoreline indicates a more one sided game than was the case. Mágh Cuilinn had at least an equal share of the play but a lack of penetration going forward and some defensive lapses saw some goals conceded and insufficient firepower to compensate. Several further opportunities for points were passed up in the final quarter as the team tried to get goals to get back in contention but ultimately the Abbeyknockmoy net remained untouched.
The team fielded without several possible players, Martin Mulkerins and Conor Kyne had other sporting committments and Eanna Kelleghan, Conor Noone, Paraic Higgins and Aodhan Claffey were all on a school tour. It is hoped that most will be available for the next game and that better use of possession can be achieved in the intervening weeks.
