Update on week's early action

U13 took a big scalp in defeating Killimordaly in the much postponed fixture. There was little to spare in the with the home side 3-3 to 1-8 ahead at the end. With their u14 fresh from their trip to Feile and Killimordaly only beaten once previously, apparently nobody told the u13 Moycullen hurlers that they were underdogs and they showed all of their typical competitiveness last night to record a 1 point victory versus a physically powerful Killimordaly 15 in the last game of the u13 A1 league section in Baile Doite. Facing into a very strong breeze in the 2nd half it seemed that everything pointed to a victory to the visitors after Moycullen had not managed to convert wind advantage on the scoreboard.
Both teams still advance to the semi finals in August with Moycullen likely to face Ardrahan or Sarsfields. The calendar of fixtures states that these will be played between the 14th and 18th August. The victors will have a final before the end of August.
In the dressing room after the game one of the players recalled that we were steamrolled at u12 by this team last year. 4-14 to 2-5. Nothing won yet, but progressing nicely! Well done lads. Next ball is what counts now.
With the U13 secure in the knockout stages, Moycullen face Oranmore Maree in Minor B at Baile Doite tonight (Wed) @ 8pm. It is a straight shoot out for a quarter final place with a win for either side securing the final qualifying spot. Points difference would see Oranmore Maree after last week's collapse in Beagh.
The Junior team have a noon throw in Carnmore against Ahascragh Fohenagh on Sunday in the next round of Championship.
On Monday, the U16 team have a home draw for their Shield Semi final against Cois Fharraige. Throw in 6.30pm.
