News of Galway and Countdown to Final

It has been a hectic fortnight since the win over Tipperary. Up to last Saturday there were three Galway panels in training up to four nights a week with only a a half dozen of an overlap between U21 and Senior. On Tuesday 18th there 148 individuals directly engaged with the various Galway panels, between extended panels, mentors, training & fitness, medical teams, kit men, officials, PRO's collecting information. Our U21s did not quite have enough to overcome Limerick and all talk of a clean sweep could be put to bed but our Minor and Senior teams continue to work away with the goal of making September 6th a day to remember for a lifetime.
The performances from the teams on that semi-final day seems to have galvanised support around the county and there is a genuine feeling of goodwill towards both teams. A training fund draw was launched last Friday and the public support for the team has been fantastic with some sellers sold out by midweek of the €20 tickets.
There has been plenty of local support for the various corporate events over the weekend as well.
The All Ireland after-match banquet has been announced as being at the former Burlington Hotel now known as Double Tree by Hilton. Tickets are €60 each and the event will begin at 8pm sharp as we hope it will be dovetailing with television. Liam McCarthy has been invited but as we all know he never RSVPs until the last minute. Tickets are available locally from Kenneth Fox on 087 2445984.
