Mágh Cuilinn 4-02 Annaghdown 0-06
The team followed up on the previous week's win with a more difficult assignment against Annaghdown, once again in the opposition's home patch. Indeed, Mágh Cuilinn trailed into the second half with only a Seamus O'Conghaile goal to show for their efforts while Annaghdown had tacked on five points. Some changes were needed. Cillian Mullarkey came on in defence to release Conor Kyne forward and ths was rewarded with Conor scoring two points. Ian Noone swopped with Brian Bohan to full forward and this produced a Noone goal. With Annaghdown only producing a single point in response, Mágh Cuilinn had moved into a narrow lead. Another Seamus Conneely goal gave the team some brathing space. A late goal by substitute, Conor Noone, who had also been introduced with Jack Kelly, wrapped up the points and delivered a somewhat flattering result. While the lack of points scored is worrying, the defence matched their performance of the previous week by limiting their opponents to a single point in the second half. Next week sees the return of the Senior League, so the U21s will have a break before the their final group game against Portumna. Mágh Cuilinn, with four points on the board and a healthy scoring difference, are now in a strong position to reach the semifinal stage.
